Chad Smith is the powerhouse behind the world-famous Red Hot Chili Peppers and the super group Chickenfoot. Chad pulls off effortlessly one of the most diffi cult challenges facing drummers - the ability to blend high powered rock with blistering funk grooves. With a personality as big as hisdrum sound, Chad remains a fi rm favourite with drummers all over the world.
Born in 1961 and grown up in Michigan, Chad became a much sought-after drummer in the late 70’s very quickly and played in different band-projects.
In 1989 he joined Red Hot Chili Peppers for their legendary album “Mother’s Milk”. At the latest by recording “Blood, Sugar, Sex, Magik” with top-producer Rick Rubin in the early 90’s he infl uenced the modern sound of American Rock like no other: Snappy rimshots, heavy kickdrums and incredibly funky arranged rhythms are his undisputed trademarks until today. Chad Smith is therefore the unchallenged master of Funk-Rock on thedrums.
Since 2008 his involvement in Chickenfoot (Joe Satriani, Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony) gives another proof of his outstanding variety and reputation. In his most current project “Chad Smith’s Bombastic Meatbats” Chad Smith is surrounded by talented musicians once again - guitar star Jeff Kollman, multi-faceted keyboardist Ed Roth and Motor City bass ace Kevin Chown. Together, they comprise what is easily one of the most interesting and unpredictable instrumental bands to come along in years; Chad Smith‘s Bombastic Meatbats.
