Faroese Teitur Lassen is without doubt one of the most interesting singer-songwriters of today. His debut album “Poetry & Aeroplanes” (2003) became a critical hit with its simple, sincere songs. Some songs were even snapped up for film soundtracks (My Super Ex-Girlfriend and Aquamarine) and the whole album attracted the attention of respected singer-songwriters like Rufus Wainwright, Aimee Mann or John Mayer - all of them taking him on tour with them.

“Stay Under The Stars” (Edel, 2006) went Gold in Denmark and won Teitur a Danish Grammy for “Best Singer”. Spawning the radio hit, “Louis Louis” it established him as a rising star in Scandinavia but also built his reputation across Continental Europe, with main stage appearances at Roskilde, Benicassim and others. In 2007, Teitur fulfilled a lifetime ambition by releasing an album in his mother tongue, “Katá Hornið”, before beginning work in late that year on his next album, “The Singer” which was then released in 2008. The album, totally not commercial and adventurous got the attention of critics and Alternative Rock fans all over the world winning a Danish Grammy for Best Collection of songs. The album came out in the UK in early 2009, his first album to be issued in Britain gaining 5 star reviews on the likes of “The Guardian“ and “The Independent“ while “The Sunday Times“ praised the singer-songwriter’s “wonderfully idiosyncratic talent”. The Live DVD/CD package “A Night At The Opera” was released in spring 2010 and is now about to be followed by his 4th studio album “Let The Dog Drive Home”.

During the past two years Teitur continued his career in many different ways: producing and writing for the major French artist, Nolwenn; co-writing and performing with contemporary film musician Nico Muhly (who scored the movie “The Reader”), writing for other artists and all the time also continued writing songs for his next album. His song “You Get Me”, recorded as a duet between the legendary Italian female superstar Mina and US superstar Seal, has recently been a top ten hit in Italy and also made it onto Seal’s album “Commitment”. After this long period of working with other artists Teitur was finally happy at the beginning of the year that he had written and put together a bunch of songs that were his very best to date; so, during early 2010, Teitur recorded his stunning new album “Let The Dog Drive Home”. Featuring his band, guest musicians, strings and choir, it combines the quality of songs from his first album, with the broad appeal of his second, and some of the coolness of the third. No wonder many consider it “the next big thing“...
